Here at Nairn’s we care passionately about the food we produce. We strive to make the best products with the finest, naturally grown ingredients that we can with as little impact on the environment as possible.

Here’s how we are making a positive difference.

Sustainable Palm Fruit Oil

Palm oil contains a number of fats, vitamins and nutrients but no trans-fatty acids.  It is our oil of choice for both its nutritional qualities and the fact that it is particularly suited to baking.  All the palm oil that we use in our products is sustainable and we’re proud to say that we’re now members of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil).


The RSPO sets environmental and social standards for sustainable palm oil production such as:

•    No new clearing of primary tropical forests
•    Conservation of natural habitats
•    Respect for indigenous people and for millions of workers

The RSPO is working to make the world’s primary sources of vegetable oils more sustainable. Strict audits and checks are completed before any oil gets the RSPO’s seal of approval and we are happy to comply with the required supply chain systems. To date over two million tonnes of sustainable palm oil has been produced and the numbers are growing rapidly.

Carbon Footprint

We’re working with the Carbon Trust to develop ways to make Nairn’s carbon footprint smaller. We’re constantly looking for ways to be greener. Here are the targets that we’ve set ourselves. Watch this space for further information on our green initiative.

We aim to:

•    Reduce the amount of electricity that we use by 5%
•    To reduce the amount of waste that we send to landfill
•    To use renewable / sustainable / recycled material in our packaging
•    To use the least amount of material per pack
•    To use materials that can widely be recycled
